Task Models for Knowledge Elicitation

چکیده

Knowledge elicitation cannot be lead solely by the expert. Elicited knowledge must be analysed and represented by the knowledge engineer. When a knowledge engineering project is started some framework must exist of what is likely to be encountered and the representation to be used for it. Given our present knowledge of the psychology of expertise the top-down influence on knowledge elicitation must be derived from previous analyses of the tasks likely to be performed by the expert. As knowledge engineers become more experienced they will build up there own library of previously analysed tasks. Before then, they must rely on general task analyses and their model libraries. This chapter reviews developments in task models which can be used to guide decisions during knowledge acquisition.

Problems of decision rule elicitation in a classification task

Intelligent decision support requires knowledge elicitation processes. Two primary approaches for knowledge elicitation in a multiattribute classification task are 1) direct elicitation of decision rules in the form of productions, and 2) classification of multiattribute objects by an expert as a basis for development of the underlying decision rules. This study reports an experiment using a si...

Advancing Task Elicitation Systems - An Experimental Evaluation of Design Principles

In large IS development projects a huge number of natural language documents becomes available and needs to be analyzed and transformed into structured requirements. This elicitation process is known to be time-consuming and error-prone when performed manually by a requirements engineer. Thus, there is a clear demand for advanced support of the entire elicitation process. Our work focuses on pr...

Critiquing: A methodology to extract C2 expertise Track: C2 Decision Making and Cognitive Analysis

The higher a military person goes in the ranks, the sooner the transfer, meaning the commanders who make the highest level decisions have been in a particular assignment the shortest amount of time. To acquire and maintain the maximum level of efficiency and productivity as quickly as possible, the expertise of commanders must be understood so that appropriate decision support can be developed....

Knowledge Elicitation for Design Task Sequencing Knowledge

There are many types of knowledge involved in producing a design (the process of specifying a description of an artifact that satisfies a collection of constraints [Brown, 1992]). Of these, one of the most crucial is the design plan: the sequence of steps taken to create the design (or a portion of the design). A number of knowledge elicitation methods can be used to obtain this knowledge from ...

Supporting knowledge elicitation for learning in virtual teams

The growing complexity and dynamics of professional work increasingly require teamwork. Continuous learning while working will be obligatory to meet the performance requirements of the workplace. In this context asynchronous collaboration becomes more common and poses new educational design questions. Many questions regarding these new ways of working and learning are yet to be resolved. One pi...
